These Membership Terms ("Terms") govern membership in the Wisconsin African Chamber of Commerce ("WACC," "we," "us"), a Wisconsin nonstock corporation recognized as a business league under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. By submitting a membership application and payment, you ("member," "you") agree to these Terms.
1. Open Membership
WACC membership is open to all individuals and organizations who support our mission of advancing African business success in Wisconsin, regardless of ancestry, national origin, or background. Membership is subject to these Terms, WACC's bylaws, and applicable membership standards.
2. Membership Levels and Dues
Individual Professional — $150 per year. For one person joining in their own name.
Business Member — $250 per year. The business is the member; benefits extend to the business entity.
Community Organization — $200 per year. For nonprofits, associations, and community groups.
Corporate Member — $1,500 per year. For corporations, institutions, and public agencies with fewer than 100 employees.
Corporate Partner — $2,500 per year. For corporations, institutions, and public agencies with 100 or more employees.
Dues amounts are set by the WACC Board of Directors and may change for future membership terms. Members will be notified of any change before their next renewal.
3. Activation and WACC's Reserved Rights
For Individual Professional, Business Member, and Community Organization levels, membership becomes active upon successful payment. Corporate Member and Corporate Partner memberships become active upon payment of the invoice issued by WACC following application.
Membership is subject to WACC's bylaws, membership standards, and eligibility requirements. WACC reserves the right to correct duplicate accounts, reclassify an incorrect membership level with notice to the member, or issue a refund if membership requirements are not met.
4. Membership Year and Renewal
Core levels (Individual Professional, Business Member, Community Organization): WACC operates on a fixed membership year running January 1 through December 31. Memberships renew on January 1 of each year.
Corporate levels (Corporate Member, Corporate Partner): Memberships run for twelve (12) months from the date of activation and renew on that anniversary.
Inaugural Year benefit: Members joining a core level during 2026 pay the standard annual dues and receive membership coverage through December 31, 2027, with their first renewal on January 1, 2028. Corporate members joining in 2026 receive permanent recognition as an Inaugural Corporate Partner.
Members who join a core level mid-year in future years may have dues adjusted according to the partial-year schedule in effect at the time of joining.
5. Automatic Renewal
Core-level memberships paid online renew automatically each January 1 using the payment method on file, as described in the Recurring Payment Authorization accepted at signup. Members may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the renewal date by emailing membership@wisacc.org. Corporate memberships renew by invoice and are not automatically charged.
6. Cancellation and Refunds
To cancel a membership, email membership@wisacc.org. Cancellations and refunds are handled according to the WACC Cancellation and Refund Policy, available at wisacc.org. In summary: approved refunds are issued minus the third-party payment processing fee (currently 2.9% + $0.30), which is retained by the payment processor and is not recoverable by WACC; refunds issued to correct an error by WACC — including duplicate charges or membership level corrections — are issued in full.
A membership that lapses without payment may lose member benefits, including directory listing, after a grace period.
7. Member Benefits and Directory
Benefits are those described for each membership level at wisacc.org and may be updated from time to time. Members may be listed in the WACC member directory and may manage or opt out of their listing through their member account. WACC does not award grants; program descriptions referencing funding refer to WACC's role in helping members identify opportunities.
8. Dues and Tax Treatment
WACC is a 501(c)(6) business league. Membership dues are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Dues may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense; consult your tax advisor.
9. Conduct and Termination
Members are expected to engage professionally and lawfully in WACC activities. The Board of Directors may suspend or terminate a membership for conduct materially harmful to WACC or its members, consistent with WACC's bylaws.
10. General
WACC may update these Terms from time to time; the current version will be posted at wisacc.org, and continued membership after notice of changes constitutes acceptance. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
